Embedded s/w engineer

Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. designs, develops and sells semiconductor networking solutions for communications applications such as converged VoIP and data, and broadband optical transmission in enterprise, access, metropolitan and wide area networks.
Mindspeed's products are used in a wide variety of network infrastructure equipment including voice and media gateways, high-speed routers, switches, access multiplexers, cross-connect systems, add-drop multiplexers and digital loop carrier equipment.
We are opening a position Embedded s/w engineer for our Ukraine office

Key requirements:
• Masters CS degree.
• Understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Proven ability to effectively organize and work productively on simultaneous tasks.
• Experience in coding in C and or C++ and some assembly language.
• Experience with real-time software development in an embedded processor environment.
• Knowledge of all or some telecommunications standards such as T1/E1, T3, E3, SONET, xDSL, TCP, Ethernet, ATM, signaling protocols (SIP, SS7), modem communication etc.
All or some of the qualifications listed below considered adding a major value to the applicant
• Understanding of block-based video encoding, i.e., MPEG-2, MPEG-4 etc.
• Comprehension of raw video processing, e.g., scaling, gamma correction, color space conversion.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with writing device drivers and/or firmware for ARM based products.
• Experience debugging in a real-time embedded environment using software tool as well as lab equipment such as probes and oscilloscopes.
• Some knowledge of embedded systems and video device hardware.
• Experience in developing embedded software using real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, RTX51 etc.
• Knowledge of Linux driver/BSP/application development is a plus.
• Experience with logic analyzers/scopes and ASIC simulation tools a plus.
• Must be able to interface with other groups to define and develop new tools and enhance existing software

Responsibilities will include:
Development of the video encoding features based on the existing voice over packet software and Mindspeed's proprietary hardware of Comcerto family.
Implementing video codecs, transcoding, encapsulation algorithms and protocols etc.
