Support analyst (barclays capital)
Main Duties
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- User support for Barclays Capital Live Prod/UAT environments
- User support for Global Marketing and corporate communication applications such as Intranet, Phonebook, Global Marketing Management System (GMMS)
- LDAP administration and maintenance
- Incident and problem Management as per ITIL standards.
- File/update/Resolve/close Incidents
- Configuration of the Web portal & other applications as per business needs
- Coordination with other global support teams for issue resolution
- Communication with users/Management on the escalated issue
- Execution of various ad hoc reports on application from underlying databases
- Major incident handling
- Raise, own, coordinate and implement various change requests as per BAU process
- Proactively monitor application availability and performance and produce the desired metrics
- Carry out the start of the day (SOD) checks on various applications
- Respond to user requests and incidents according to the agreed SLA’s
- Troubleshooting of issues and Root Causes analysis for recurring issues
- Open/Escalate/follow-up on open cases with collaborative teams, vendors and developers as per problem management process
Essential Tools & Technology Skills:
• Knowledge of Database concepts along with understanding of DB objects like tables, indexes, database locks, triggers, stored proc, views
• Should be able to execute simple SQL queries as part of release procedure.
• Able to write and modify queries using Joins and Group functions
• Able to issue basic Unix commands like cp, ps -ef, find, grep, top, nslookup
• Understanding how cron job works
• Able to use vi editor proficiently and understand the shell/Perl scripts
• Able to write shell/Perl scripts
• Understanding of OO Programming Concepts.
• Able to make Jar/war files and related deployment process.
• Able to debug Java code
