We’re looking for a result-oriented, proactive, and creative individual to be part of our strong software engineering team. This individual will both provide leadership and play an active hands-on role in all aspects of software development, from functional walkthroughs, technical designs, and implementations to release. Requires 7+ years of software development experience on Internet commerce applications using Java, SQL, and J2EE technologies; at least 2 of those years should be in a leadership role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as a high degree of abstract reasoning and the ability to develop concepts into elegant, solid solutions.

• Lead a team of 2-5 software engineers on projects
• Create and manage schedules and task assignments
• Work closely with management on coordinating with non-technical teams
• Lead the technical design effort of various projects for Hotwire’s e-commerce application that meets scalability and performance requirements
• Lead and participate in the implementation (e.g., coding) effort
• Ensure proper technical design and documentation
• Help define and ensure adherence to engineering processes such as code reviews, source control, unit testing, use case analysis, defect management
• Present technical issues and their business impact to management
• Interface with 3rd parties on technical designs and issues
• Actively mentor software engineers to their develop technical

Extensive experience with object-oriented framework and design
Experience leading teams through the entire software development lifecycle
Proven ability to work with business teams on requirements definition and scope management N/A
Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas, document designs in a clear and concise way, and present technical issues to non-technical staff N/A
Strong proficiency in the J2EE APIs, particularly Java-based application servers (e.g. BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere) with EJBs, JMS, and JSP
Proficiency with SQL and Oracle databases
Ability to write clean, coherent code, and follow coding style guidelines
